My practice focuses on individuals (18 and older) and couples.
Individuals
I draw from different theoretical approaches to therapy; the systems perspective, which provides a better and broader understanding of family dynamics; the cognitive behavioral approach, which assists us in reviewing beliefs and reactions to situations; and the attachment theory, which sheds light into the way we bond and connect with others. The frequency and length of treatment depends on each situation.
Couples
My emphasis is Emotionally Focused Couples therapy. EFT is an approach to couples therapy that helps to reduce distress in couples. It promotes a stronger bonding in the relationship and a clearer understanding of why at times couples get stuck in rigid patterns of interactions that makes them feel distant from one another. EFT is an experiential model that helps couples expand their repertoire of emotional responses to one another, thus helping them feel closer and more connected.
